Posh Tots Creations Interview

By Interviewer at 06/14/08 02:59

Name of your website?

Posh Tots Creations

Your name?

Julie Brody

Your Location (city, etc)

Thousand Oaks, CA

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Posh Tots Creations designs personalized Diaper Cakes. Any theme, any color, customized to your needs.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have always loved making diaper cakes for my close friends and family for baby showers and other occasions, but I thought I'd start helping the public create their own unique, one-of-a-kind diaper cake as well.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I am still making updates to my website right now. I am in the process of adding more pictures.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I love the word "Posh" and I thought Posh Tots sounded adorable

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We will personally call you and give you a hand's on creation that you help design yourself instead of picking a standard Diaper Cake that other people have. You can create it to match the theme of the party if you'd like! We also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and promise to beat anyone else's prices.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to eventually open my own baby boutique selling much more than diaper cakes.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Honestly, I love making these adorable cakes. Each one has it's own unique personality so I don't see it as an actual "job". So far, the success rate has been amazing though. I'm lucky.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would put a lot more into the drop down add-on's so customers can see everything they can add to the cake as additional "frosting". It's hard to find a way to do that at the moment.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Definitely. I am lucky enough to have friends and family that are able to help me as well if I am struggling. The last thing I want to do is have a product be late or rushed because I didn't have the proper time that I would need to give it to make sure it was perfect.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None so far, but I am new to this! I'll have my fingers crossed :)

What has been your biggest challenge?

Designing the website and figuring out how to work it!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

OLX and Craigslist are great free advertising sources as well. I love PartyPop.com also, they have upgrades as well that aren't too expensive and it gets you to the top of the search engines right away!

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's much more difficult than I thought to figure out how I want everything to be organized. I have it in my head, but I still haven't figured out how to make it simple for people.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site, honestly, hasn't been up for very long. I plan on keeping it up as long as possible!

How is your Pricing?

I offer any prices at the moment. Anything people can afford. I just need to get my name out there right now and I know once people see my products, they're sure to be talking about them!

What is your website address?
