Develop Good Parenting Skills Guide Interview

By Interviewer at 07/03/08 09:13

Name of your website?

Develop Good Parenting Skills Guide

Your name?

Suzie Oborne

Your Location (city, etc)

Mildura

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Develop good parenting skills.com focus is on how we as parents can be effective mentors and role models for our children. It takes a holistic view by discussing tips and techniques for helping the entire family unit to grow and thrive together in a creative and loving manner. Topics include emotional intelligence, learning styles, communication skills and child developmental stages.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have always been interested in finding ways to improve both myself and my relationships, after having kids I wanted to find ways to parent that would make sure I nurtured my children to grow up to become healthy, confidence, successful and respectful adults. I also wanted to make sure that I would alwasys be emotionally close to my children. The knowledge that I have gain from my research into this is what I want to share with others.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

October 2007 was when I launched develop good parenting skills (this is my first website)

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I wanted a name that implied that parenting is a skill that we all can learn and improve on. For me parenting is dynamic, we need to continually grow and develop with our kids.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

My website is more of a holistic site. I focus on ways to develop and improve on our skills as parents that will not only help our kids become stronger, more confident and happy kids but will also help us to improve on all the relationships that we have in our lives.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

to have this site become my work to be able to call my passion my work would be the ultimate successful for me.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far pretty good, as a working mother of two kids this website is done at night

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would be able to focus more on developing my website and research more information on parenting more quickly

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes this is not a chore for me I love spending time on the site

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

so far none but it is early days

What has been your biggest challenge?

learning how to promote my webiste

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Focusing on making sure that each page gives plenty of content and value to my readers

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Time - I have over estimated what I could achieve in a given time frame

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

8 Months and as mentioned above this website is about things I love to do so I expect to continue with the site for many years to come

What is the philosophy behind your website

I have two sayings that I have above my computer that I focus on when working on my website (and in my life in general)

1) We all do the very best in any given situation with the skills that we have at that time. To do better we need to simply learn new skills

2) To be successful in anything you do in life you must always give more value to others then you take from them

What is your website address?
