We sell yummy soft handmade 100% organic cotton blankets made fresh to order! They make perfect gifts! Our blankets come from a smoke-free and pet-free environment. Hand washing or dry cleaning is recommended. Dry flat to retain shape. Priority Mail Shipping is FREE in the USA.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
There are quite a few sites which sell fabric baby blankets for babies but I haven't found any yet that feature hand crocheted blankets that are also eco-friendly and organic. It seems that this is a dying art and I love to crochet so I decided to launch this site.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was one where I sold gothic accessories and dolls. I believe it was around 2002.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Babies are sweet and desserts are sweet. I decided to combine the two naming all the blankets after desserts.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
The fact that our blankets are handmade and crocheted definitely sets us apart from the rest. Also, we use only premium quality certified organic cotton yarn to make our blankets.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I'd like the world to be a sweeter place. I wouldn't mind some success along the way to be honest either.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
This is a relatively new business so only time will tell.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would definitely use it for more marketing and advertising.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I'd probably have to hire a few people as I only have two hands.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Creating and running a site is a lot of work. There never seems to be enough time for everything so you definitely become a master at time management.
What has been your biggest challenge?
So far just launching the site itself.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
It's still fresh and new but I believe the internet will definitely be the most helpful and then possibly word of mouth from satisfied customers.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It's a great deal of work and requires constant upkeep and updating.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
This site is pretty much brand new and was launched in December 2008. I plan to keep it up for as long as I can.
