Beautiful Baby Kidswear Interview

By Interviewer at 01/23/09 07:45

Name of your website?

Beautiful Baby Kidswear

Your name?

Kimberly Segelke

Your Location (city, etc)

Houston, TX

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Infant to size 7 boy and girls clothing, accessories and gifts

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I always loved fashion, children, and children’s clothing. I graduating from TCU with a Fashion Merchandising degree and a minor in business and landed my first job at Neiman Marcus in the children’s department. I went on to other fashion houses such as St. John Knit, Kate Spade and Christian Dior, but never got the baby bug out. Along the way, I married and had two Beautiful Babies…(and one on the way) and my inspiration was born. I left the hustle and bustle of the high fashion world in the Fall of 2007 to follow my dreams and to spend time with my Beautiful Babies!!

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Feb 2008, this one

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name I originally chose was not liked/understood by my web designer and some friends. After many days of coming up with names already taken it popped into my head "I have (2) beautiful babies" Well that was taken and added kidswear to reflect babies and kids clothing...

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

customer service, added personal touches and good communication. Well wonderful, adorable clothing too

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To have income and work around my kids schedule

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Still very new but not great

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

More marketing, detailed inventory system, higher employees and open a storefront.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Not sure...would have to hire help. Would have inventory or would be able to get some inventory quickly. Main issue would be time.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

everything costs alot more than expected.

What has been your biggest challenge?

closing the sale on a website.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

word of mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

alot more work and money needed then expected

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

1 year. 1-2 more years if does not improve

Replace this with a question of your own

Thank you!

What is your website address?

Beautiful Baby Kidswear
