What inspired you to launch your own website?
I am retired from corporate America and wanted to form my own company and start a home-based business.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website featuring baby gifts.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Did research on Godaddy.com to come up with my name of babygiftfun.com
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
My website provides easy shopping choices while making it fun to personalize any of the gifts on the site
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I would like to make money selling baby gifts so that I don't have to go back corporate America.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I just submitted my websites to the major search engines and have been been optimizing search engines at this point in time
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would probably add another supplier and build out my product line
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, I am not working full time anywhere.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Many times in the process of developing the website, I have had to register for so many other things so get their free tools and resources. I often get the runaround, but it's been fun to learn a new skill set.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the right niche was difficult.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I am trying everything at this point in time, so I can't answer this question yet.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It's a lot more complicated than I thought.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Just launched the site this week and I will keep it up to make money.
